Valentine’s Day is traditionally associated with chocolates, roses, and champagne. Maybe some lingerie or even a cheesy proposal. BORING. No better way to show yourself (or bae) some love than with Valentine’s inspired carbs. Check out my top 10 V-day picks of donuts, cakes, and pies from across the country. Go ahead, treat yoself.
Donuts
Sweet Daze Dessert Bar
Richardson, TX
I ordered a half dozen of these beautifully crafted donuts last weekend for a grand total of $31. The yeast is thicker than most donuts I’ve tried, but still a delicious treat. Their conversation heart cheesecakes are also adorable! Order yours here.
Donut Princess LA
Los Angeles, CA
Flowers last less than a week. Donuts last maybe 2 days, but at least this bouquet is functional, okay?! Treat your significant other at work, your roommate or, hell, even the person you’ve been on 3 dates with and aren’t sure of your relationship status. Order your donut bouquet here
Alternative for Las Vegas residents
Blackbird Doughnuts
Boston, MA
The deadline to order these donuts was at 2 PM today, the 12th. Oops. But who knows, maybe they’ll still be able to accommodate you! Try calling 617-482-9000.
Glazed Donut Works
Dallas, TX
Glazed Donut Works is pretty popular when it comes to V-day donuts. According to their Instagram feed, all pre-orders are now closed. Good news is that you have two locations to pick up a pre-boxed dozen Valentine’s donuts for $32 + tax, or half-dozen donuts for $17.50 + tax. If you can’t make it to their Deep Ellum location, try Legacy Hall in Plano. The Food Hall’s doors remain open until 11 PM.
If you can’t get enough of Glazed Donut Works’ goodies, check out their upcoming donut and beer pairing event. The festivities are hosted this Sunday, 2/18, at LUCK gastropub at Trinity Groves. Tickets are still available, but with limited spots left! Will I see you there??
Jarams Donuts
Plano, TX
Order your gorgeous heart-shaped donuts by calling 972-248-7474. Typically, all next day orders must be placed before noon.
Blue Star Donuts
Portland, OR and Los Angeles, CA
This decadent treat looks (almost) too expensive to eat! The Rose-Rosé donut is made of French dark chocolate buttermilk, all sauced up in rose water and sparkling rosé glaze. Click here to contact Blue Star’s various locations.
Non-Donuts
Chicago Public House
Chicago, IL
This monstrosity of a milkshake goes for a whopping $15. No order-ahead as far as I’ve seen, so take your date or your Galentines out on the town for this one.
Stax Ice Cream
New York, NY
This stack is just perfection…Feast your eyes on Konery’s French Vanilla cone with Stax’s new Rose Gold ice cream, topped with Eileen’s famous cheesecake tart. The Rose Gold flavor, made especially for this collaboration, is a refreshing combination of sweet lychees, delicate rose petals, and light notes of clover honey.
Supermoon Bake House
New York, NY
I don’t normally go for pie, but my mouth is literally drooling for this layered $45 Sweetie Pie… Unfortunately, the chocolate, graham cracker, cheesecake and champagne-filled pie is SOLD OUT as of today, but don’t write off their regular cruffins and croissants for your sweetie. For instance, I would be very satisfied to nosh on the $8 Banana Split Sundae Twice-Baked Croissant or the $6 Black Forest Cruffin. This is for NYC peeps only, though.
Emporium Pies
Dallas, TX
How cute are these mini and assorted Valenpies? Emporium is partnering with Dirt Flowers florist this year. Your V-Day package includes 9 mini Valenpies boxed up in EP packaging with a succulent plant from Dirt Flower. Order for local pickup or delivery here. They also ship nationwide via Goldbely, but it might not arrive until after V-day.
