What apps do you use to create Instagram content? It seems like the options and trends are constantly evolving. And most times it feels like there are toomany options to choose from.

That’s why I reached out to some of the top Instagram influencers in food, fashion and travel and asked them about their favorite tools. We did the vetting so you don’t have to!

Not surprisingly, a few of the same apps kept coming up, like Lightroom and Snapseed. And a handful are ones that I learned about for the first time. Read on for all the recs!

Preview is the only way I edit and have time to get my posts lined up! Snapseed is also great before I learned about the extra (editing) stuff in Preview. Oh and oddly — Google Photos. That’s where I store everything now since my phone was always running out of space. Storing Netflix videos for a toddler while out and having a tantrum takes up tons of storage!

@dallaseatandplay

@brandondoesdallas: ImgPlay for GIFs, Storyluxe for stories and KUNI Cam

I use Lightroom, Snapseed and Photoshop for a lot of my photos. I try to keep a consistent aesthetic to my page which is relatively hard to do with food, but my main goal is to make each pic bright, cheerful and tasty!

My most recent posts have been DSLR, but whenever you see me holding a food item it’s most likely iPhone. It’s too hard to hold food while taking a photo on a bulky camera all at the same time.

@josheatsphilly

@atasteofkoko: StoriesEdit, Planoly, VSCOcam

I love Later and Planoly! I also use Lightroom mobile, A Color Story, and Unfold for Instagram stories. I purchased my presets from Creative Market then tweak them to really match the style of the feed I’m editing. I have 21 accounts I help run 😂

@iamsarahmize

@foodwithmonica: Mojo for stories/video; Hootsuite for planning, Lightroom, UNUM, PicMonkey

My editing is mostly done on desktop, but I think they have mobile apps too! Lightroom for photo editing, iMovie for video editing, and occasional use of VSCO here and there (but not for food pics, pics of people/places).

@femalefoodie

@kimmy.eats: Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects for video editing

I loveeee Lightroom, Snapseed and Canva. And I use Facetune for food pics to blur and clean things up, LOVE IT.

@foodforthabooty

@nomswithnoor: Lightroom and Snapseed

I use Unfold for Stories, Photo Retouch to erase things like drips on plates, Lightroom for regular editing and sometimes Facetune if my face is in it! But only to make my teeth look whiter 😆

@newenglandfoodexplorer

@foodbythegram: Adobe Lightroom, A Color Story and VSCO

I use Lightroom mobile, StoryArt and Retouch. Retouch is a game changer! It helps get out little irritations and backgrounds.

@teachingandlaundry

@itsjosheats: Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere Rush (the mobile app version for the video editing software) and Facetune

    All my photos are shot with an iPhone XS Max. I mostly use the Instagram editing features and other than that I’ll use Lightroom.

    @actualfoodie

    @foodsinmyheart: “We only use one: Lightroom!”

    Lightroom, StoryArt and Unfold are some of my favs. I create all of my stories with StoryArt and Unfold, but StoryArt has more colors and it includes animations which makes stories so fun!

    @a_timelesswanderer

    @closetfatgirl: Snapseed or Adobe for photo edits and Clips and iMovie for video editing.

    I subscribe to Lightroom and use it for editing my photos. I also just started using Tailwind for posting and love it. I will occasionally use Unfold for stories.

    @the.weekend.foodie

    @mycurlyadventures_: A Color Story for editing videos, Retouch for getting rid of unwanted people/things, and ImgPlay to make GIFs.

    A Color Story, Unfold and Inshot! Inshot is a pretty basic video editing app, but it’s good for practical things like cropping videos, adding the white sides and putting clips together.

    @jessicairvin

    @carlygala: Preview to plan my feed, Facetune for editing and StoryArt to add backgrounds to my stories.

    Planoly is a game-changer for me. I use it to set up my feed and store hashtag clouds. I use the free version, which allows 30 uploads per month and limited hashtag clouds, but my social media clients use the $7 monthly plan, which allows unlimited uploads and really cool analytic features!

    I use a Panasonic LUMIX GX8 to take all of my photos and love that I can use wifi to transfer my photos to my phone. I use Snapseed to edit all of my photos. I use presets I’ve created so my images have a similar feel and then tweak them from there.

    I just signed up for IQ Hashtags to get better insights into what hashtags to use. It also gives me insights into my most active followers, as well as followers who used to be active and aren’t anymore. Then, I can engage with them and hopefully reignite an Instagram friendship!
