June 2018 Donut Adventures
Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2018? Here’s a recap of all of my donut festivities last month.

June started off strong with National Donut Day! I had such a blast being featured on WFAA’s Daybreak Facebook Live segment. But omg I was SO nervous! In case you missed it, I brought some of the top Dallas donuts to the set: Earnest Donuts, Glazed Donut Works, Hypnotic Donuts, Jarams Donuts, and Top Pot Doughnuts. You can catch me here around the 7:30 mark:
I also took over Dining with Delia Jo’s Instagram account for the day. Delia and I met back in January 2017 when we both attended the opening of Hurts Donuts in Frisco. We got to talking after she saw me snap a few hundred pictures of donuts in the corner.

Visited my fam in Philly for a few days. Not surprisingly, made a few visits to Federal Donuts and La Colombe coffee. I also got to sample the limited-edition Cheesesteak Donut, a special collab between Joe’s Steaks and Frangelli’s Bakery in honor of Joe’s 50th Anniversary. That was also the first time I met @josheatsphilly and @happyhungryfoodie in person. So fun meeting fellow foodies in the real world!
Apparently, there’s some controversy over future collaborations that they’ve (prematurely) announced. Follow the latest here. Next time, I MUST get my hands on Curiosity Doughnuts in the Spring House Whole Foods. According to FoodBabyNY, the “definition of destination-worthy.”

Celebrated my two-year anniversary with Mike! He surprised me with dinner at Javier’s in Dallas. We got buzzed off of frozen margaritas and cheese, and somehow found room for dessert at Emporium Pies. Then it got sappy…We watched our wedding video and cried together. Gah, I just loved our vows. And my dress!

Stopped by the new Dough Boy Donuts shop off of Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth. They’re still undergoing construction, but I am SO excited for Melvin to open his brick-and-mortar shop. I’ve got the inside scoop and an exciting announcement coming soon…

Even though my Dad lives in Philly, I celebrated Father’s Day from afar with Hypnotic Donuts’ “Dad Bod” donut: Chocolate-tobacco glaze with white chocolate bacon crunch on vanilla cake with a whiskey pipette. Admittedly, I just ordered the pipette for the picture, but the actual donut was good! A little boy stared at me while I took pictures on the couch and ate the donut solo. Story of my life.

Went to a fun yoga class with my friend, Malea, then drove about an hour to Richardson for more donuts. Second time trying Sweet Daze Dessert Bar, and it was better than I remembered. I tried their lavender lemonade, charcoal lemonade, marble 24K donut, and rainbow donut for Pride weekend. The shop is very Instagrammable, from the neon “Sweet Daze Ahead” sign, to the letterboard with changing phrases, to their rows of colorful cakes and donuts. I have yet to try their frozen yogurt. Guess I’ll have to go back again?

Caught up with my friend, Flo, at a donut and beer pairing event. For the uninitiated, LUCK at Trinity Groves hosts all kinds of beer and food pairings — pictured below is their monthly collab with Glazed Donut Works.
While this batch was a little drier than usual, I did enjoy the overall experience. From left to right:
- Passion Fruit Mango donut with Tupps Brewery’s Black Ale
- Peanut Butter Habanero Jelly donut with 903 Brewers’ Sasquatch. The PB&J was my favorite donut by far.
- Blackberry Lime donut with Small Brew Pub’s Black Pepper Pils
- Orange Cream Soda donut with Good Neighbor Brews’ M’rye’ah

A few weeks ago, I created some GIF stickers. Today, they officially got approved! You can now search for my stickers within Instagram stories. Here’s how:
- Create a story, per usual
- Tap the icon up top and open up the GIF library
- Type in “donutdigest” (no space)
