We’re traveling southwest to the White Settlement area for our second donut review. Let’s see if the donuts at Paradise Donuts are a piece of heaven or a piece of work.

THE REVIEW
Did you know that Paradise Donuts is part of a national chain and not local to Texas? According to their website, the original recipe was developed in a small Missouri town in the early 1930’s. In the 1950’s, several shops using the recipe were opened around Missouri when the “light and fluffy taste of the original recipe was used to formulate the quality ‘Paradise Mix’ used in most of our fried and baked products.”
The DFW franchise shop is located along the Jim Wright Freeway access road, just north of White Settlement Road. While close to Fort Worth, it’s technically part of the northwestern suburb of White Settlement, about a 15-minute drive from Sundance Square via I-30 W.
PROS:
There are many options for how to get your donuts from Paradise: walk in, drive-through, or call ahead for special orders or delivery to an office.
Donuts are made fresh daily and won’t break the bank: A dozen basic donuts (glazed, cake or old fashion) cost less than 10 bucks. We ordered a handful of flavors, including:
- A coffee blueberry bar (Rory’s personal favorite)
- A chocolate glazed donut
- A vanilla glazed donut with blue sprinkles
- A vanilla glazed donut topped with Cheerios and blueberries
- Chocolate and strawberry old fashions
We’ve also heard great things about the apple fritter and breakfast burrito.
It’s nice to know that the owner of a franchise store is passionate and hands-on, too. Shop owner Melissa was handling the drive-through window during our visit, but also took the time to chat and answer questions.
CONS:
The location may serve as a convenient pit stop on the way to work, but you’ll need to hop back on the highway to see any attractions in the heart of Fort Worth.
When it comes to donut options, we arrived closer to noon, so the full menu was no longer available. We’ll also need a second visit to try the non-donut items such as kolaches, cinnamon rolls, and fried pies.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Paradise Donuts had a pleasant, clean atmosphere. The owner is willing to try anything for customers “within reason!” She emphasized that her shop is all about custom orders: they can create donut letters for special occasions, plus mini donuts, kolaches, and cinnamon rolls. A gluten-free donut is even in consideration if that’s your thing. Ask and you shall probably receive.
We recommend going earlier in the day for the best variety and the opportunity to try a breakfast burrito. Comment below with your experience at Paradise Donuts.
